About The Role

We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, and community-oriented leader to take on the role of EMEA Head of Marketplace. This position reports to the EMEA Head of Central Operations.


As one of the leaders of our EMEA Central Operations team, the Head of Marketplace will lead a team focused on improving marketplace efficiency, product experience, incentives, quality and safety, and reducing risk across EMEA markets. The ideal candidate is deeply analytical, has a perfect understanding of the mechanics and magic that make an efficient marketplace, along with strong strategic vision, project management, communication and team management skills to keep multiple projects on track and lead a wide variety of stakeholders.


What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage a strong team of Marketplace Efficiency, Incentives, Risk and Quality experts, including Regional Operations Managers and Leads
  • Plan and set vision and strategy for the EMEA Marketplace Team for the near, mid, and long term, and iterate on plans in response to changing operational results and priorities
  • Scale and execute Marketplace initiatives across the mega-region, with a focus on putting processes and practices in place that drive meaningful change in customer behavior and satisfaction, and generate significant efficiencies in markets
  • Able to form a vision at a high level, but also not hesitant to dive into details or troubleshoot market by market where needed to identify optimization opportunities, and collaborate with the relevant teams to do so
  • Be the voice of EMEA. Identify major opportunities for improvement that can be solved via technical and product solutions, and making a data-driven case to the engineering organization to build and implement them. Liaise with relevant HQ teams to inform their program vision and roadmaps, to ensure that solutions are being developed to address our biggest pain points.
  • Manage Incentives spend across the mega-region, making careful tradeoffs and providing thought leadership across Operations and Finance teams

What You’ll Need

  • Strong track record of being a respected operational problem solver
  • Deep analytical and critical-thinking ability
  • Strong, demonstrated people management ability
  • Experience setting team strategy, budgets, and plans
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and presenting data to various audiences; ability to translate quantitative findings into action plans
  • Excellent knowledge of Uber operational tools and processes
  • Very strong communication and organization skills
  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength
  • Willingness to travel across EMEA when required
  • 10+ years work experience, MBA preferred but not required
