Job Description

About the Role:


Uber is hiring a Tech Brand Manager (TBM) based in Seattle to execute company-wide initiatives to strengthen our technical brand and continuously improve processes to increase the effectiveness of our local product and engineering organization. This TBM will be work closely with Seattle tech leadership while being a part of the global Tech Brand team (many of who are in the Bay Area). The Seattle TBM will exchange best practices and processes surrounding: external engineering events, culture, engineering blog articles, tech talks, and open source with other site program managers at Uber.


A successful person in this role adeptly juggles multiple priorities, looking to make the largest long term impact while still completing day-to-day deadlines. Strong organizational, tracking, and triaging skills are key to growing this role and making it impactful. Connections with the Seattle startup scene and existing experience at technology companies (and a corresponding network) are additionally helpful in the successful execution of this role, particularly for external outreach, events and partnerships.


What You'll Do


  • Work with the Seattle Engineering & Product Site Leads, Director of Technical Recruiting, HRBP and other relevant leadership to build Uber’s Tech Brand and enact Seattle’s vision and version of it, from internal culture to external sourcing
  • Sourcing and pursuing Engineering Blog contributions from your site(s)
  • Sourcing and pursuing Open Source software and internal tech talk contributions from your site(s)
  • Sourcing and manage the execution of external Uber Engineering events hosted by our Seattle office, growing our existing external meetup community of several hundred technologists
  • Conducting community outreach in the Seattle area to help tell Uber Engineering’s story


What You'll Need


  • Strong communication skills, notably an ability to influence and motivate people across a broad variety of job functions
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks at once without losing sight of the highest priority items
  • Previous track record of high throughput of work and ability to consistently produce results (content, events, etc.)
  • Ability and inclination to track program progress using data-driven analytics.
  • Background in technology (recruiting, engineering, product, data science etc.) to follow along with trends & topics at a high level


About the Team


Tech Brand is a cross-functional set of programs responsible for telling the story of Uber's technology by showcasing the work of our engineers through the Uber Engineering Blog, open source work, and community events. We empower people within the company to tell our technology story.
