Uber Overview

Uber is a technology company that is changing the way the world thinks about transportation. We are building technology people use everyday. Whether it's heading home from work, getting a meal delivered from a favorite restaurant, or a way to earn extra income, Uber is becoming part of the fabric of daily life.

We're making cities safer, smarter, and more connected. And we're doing it at a global scale-energizing local economies and bringing opportunity to millions of people around the world. Uber's positive impact is tangible in the communities we operate in, and that drives us to keep moving forward.

We are looking for a Regional Operations Manager to help build and scale an automated restaurant quality process while also identifying new and creative ways to improve restaurant performance across the Asia-Pacific region. Our team works very closely with cities to ensure that restaurant partners are setup for success by providing them with regular insights to keep growing their business while also maintaining a high bar on quality and marketplace efficiency.

This person will develop deep knowledge in developing and driving a project/process from start to end and should be able to wear multiple hats. He/she will need to be able to identify an issue, back their hypothesis with data, experiment in a few cities and then scale highly optimized processes while also taking into account the cultural and operational differences across APAC.

The role involves working closely with City Ops, Product, Legal, HQ/Regional CRM, and CommOps teams to improve and roll out regional initiatives.

Job Description

  • Quality - Ensure the highest quality standards are respected on the platform across the region. You will need to develop a centralized process that can evolve and be implemented across Southeast-Asia, North-Asia, Australia & New Zealand, Japan & India
  • Engage - Improve restaurant performance by implementing best practices and inventing new processes and campaigns across the region. For example: optimizing menus to increase eater conversion & retention
  • Analytics - Use a data driven approach to identify key issues and solutions
  • Strategy - Decide which projects the team should focus on and then set timelines to reach these goals
  • Execution - Lead the execution process and be responsible for the rollout schedule of new product-related features and regional initiatives
  • Product - Become the Regional point of contact for relevant HQ product teams to proactively search for new features which could improve existing supply KPIs across the region by presenting data driven cases for changes.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis - Evaluate the economic and strategic costs and benefits of restaurant programs and work with management to execute those strategies
  • Speed - This is an environment requiring flexibility and initiative on an operational team with a regional scope. Take ownership of UberEverything's growth in the region and do what it takes to get the job done

  • Data driven decision making mentality
  • Sound business judgment backed by strong analytical thinking and experimentation
  • Strong track record of being enthusiastic about taking on problems
  • Excellent prioritization skills and ability to juggle many responsibilities at once, adept at weighing importance of quick wins vs. long-term progress
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and presenting data to various audiences; ability to translate quantitative findings into actionable plans
  • Ability to take initiative in a constantly-changing work environment
  • SQL knowledge is required
  • Willingness to travel across APAC when required
  • Very strong communication and organization skills
  • Fluent in English

  • Employees are given Uber credits every month
  • Ground floor opportunity with the team; shape the strategic direction of the company
  • The rare opportunity to change the way the world moves. We're not just another social web app, we're moving real people and assets and reinventing transportation and logistics globally
  • Smart, engaged co-workers
