Job Description

About The Role

 

Uber is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer for the Developer Experience team to build tools that integrate development with production so developers can  easily develop and test in a microservice architecture. Your work will guide how all of our engineers develop their services.  You’ll build tools that enable developers to work seamlessly between local environments, development servers, and production in ways that safely bridge the gap between development and production.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to our internal tool for developing against production routing traffic to and from production for development needs
  • Design and develop tools for setting up and maintaining developer environments and dependencies
  • Integrate with other teams that leverage our tool’s connection to production
  • Work with other engineers that contribute plugins to our tools for additional testing and development functionality

What You’ll Need

  • Strong professional experience with Go, Python or C++
  • Experience creating internal development tools and frameworks that scale
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Advanced knowledge of UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals
  • Knowledge of full-stack infrastructure knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team

Bonus Points If

  • Experience with Chef

The Environments team is a part of the Developer Platform organization so we are the engineers for the engineers.  We own the internal tools that enable our engineers to develop the way they want and not run into any roadblocks.
