About the Role

 

 

The UK and Ireland (UKI) business is looking for a sharp, highly motivated individual to lead our UKI Regulatory Operations Team based in London. Uber in the UK and Ireland operate in a regulated market requiring compliance with Private Hire Operator conditions for over 80 different city councils. The regulatory team plays a crucial role in ensuring that Uber operates at the highest level of compliance with regulatory requirements. The team is responsible for designing and managing processes working with a range of stakeholders across our driver operations, community operations, safety, legal and public policy teams.

 

We are looking for a leader to set the vision for regulatory operations for our UK and Ireland business. This leader will grow a team and design, build, manage and monitor processes, policies and procedures that support our operations in over 25 cities in the UK and Ireland. What You’ll Do:

 

  • Lead a team of Operations Managers based out of London
  • Design, build and maintain new and existing regulatory processes to meet our regulatory requirements across the UK and Ireland
  • Develop regulatory policies working with internal stakeholders such as legal, safety and insurance
  • Review compliance policies and procedures on a regular basis and monitor ongoing processes to ensure they comply with regulatory requirements
  • Where relevant participate in the development and implementation of other policies and procedures, ensuring regulatory and legislative requirements are met.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a risk-based compliance monitoring programme, identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting all material compliance risks to senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor and update our policies and processes to comply with changes in regulatory requirements
  • Prepare the operations team for periodic audits of activity conducted by regulatory officials
  • Maintain the compliance manual, and all compliance procedure documentation
  • Collaborate with other city and central operations teams, legal and safety as part of cross-functional projects
  • Develop strategy for optimising operations through offshoring functions and managing BPO relationships with third parties

 

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in a compliance or regulatory operations role
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice compliance and governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice, compliance monitoring and risk assessments in the context of a regulated industry such as financial services, telecoms, utilities.
  • A minimum of 2 years leading a team
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Excellent Excel / data management skills
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Self-motivated, works independently and possesses strong organization and time management skills

  • MBA or Masters degree
